Endpoints, Gateways and IoT Sensors – Get to know the Khomp products

Along with a high-end application, IoT (Internet of Things) solutions require reliable IoT gateways and sensors that can transmit the necessary data to the solution with speed and simplicity in order to generate intelligence for the operation.

In this post, you will get to know the complete line of IoT endpoints, gateways, and sensors from Khomp that provide this function. From small scenarios, such as a refrigerator for storing medicine at a pharmacy, to kilometers of crops in a field, each piece of equipment from Khomp provides the best performance and stability for the perfect measurement in loco of objects and environments, generating and relaying the data needed for IoT solutions.

Application of IoT gateways and sensors

In its IoT portfolio, Khomp offers three types of equipment: Endpoints, a telemetric Gateway and Standalone Sensors.

The Endpoints are the devices that collect the data registered by probes connected to them and send it to an IoT gateway via radio.

The principal function of the Gateway is to transmit the data received from the Endpoints, via network, to the integrator’s cloud environment, regardless of how many Endpoints are being directed to it.

And the Standalone Sensor plays two roles: it collects and transmits information directly to the cloud environment, bypassing the use of a gateway, however, with a limit to the number of sensors it can handle. By transmitting data through a mobile network, it can be installed in locations without a network infrastructure.

The entire system referred to here can be applied in a wide range of contexts, including industries, corporations, health care, agribusiness, smart cities, supermarkets, pharmacies, greenhouses, analytical laboratories, blood banks, food distributors, hospitals and clinics, among many others.

Technological advantages of the Khomp IoT line

Now that we have covered the different roles of each product, let’s talk about the models and advantages of the IoT endpoints, gateways and sensors from Khomp:

IoT Endpoints

There are two versions of Endpoints: models IEEE 802.15.4 and LoRa®. While the former is ideal for small and medium scenarios, as, for example, in companies, the LoRa® is recommended for scenarios that require long-range communication with a gateway, such as with public networks, at universities, in agribusiness and for smart cities.

Khomp Endpoints have two ports for connection of up to four sensors, which can be for temperature, humidity and dry contact (magnetic). There is also a version with sensors for humidity and temperature that are integrated in the board of the device. This way they are able to perform measurement of these elements in the location where they are installed, offering an IoT solution with complete monitoring.

ITG 200 Gateway

The ITG 200 is Khomp’s telemetric IoT gateway. In 2018, it was awarded the honor of Best Product at VoIP2Day, an event that brings together the most important leaders in the fields of telephony and IP communication every year in the city of Madrid.

The ITG 200 gateway receives and transmits data from as many Endpoints as are necessary for monitoring the entire scenario. For this reason, it is ideal for a scenario with several points for collection of data, allowing for gradual scalability of a solution just through the addition of Endpoints.

In addition to receiving the data collected by the Endpoints, it supports up to four probes connected directly to your cabinet for monitoring the environment in which it is installed.

The ITG 200 can be acquired in 2 versions: with an IEEE 802.15.4 communication module, which communicates with the Endpoint with the same name, and another which offers support for communication with the LoRa® Endpoint. Regardless of the communication model chosen, the integrator can also opt to add a 3G module, which assists in the event of a failure in the Ethernet network by providing a fallback system for sending the data to the cloud environment, guaranteeing delivery of the data.

IoT Standalone Sensor

As mentioned, the ITS (IoT Standalone Sensor) is an IoT endpoint designed by Khomp to integrate measurement sensors directly into an IoT solution.

Ideal for single points for data collection, the ITS connects up to four probes for humidity, temperature and dry contact and transmits the data collected through a mobile network. For the security of your operation, it also contains internal memory that can store up to approximately 72 hours of data in the event of unavailability of the data network.

Just like the Endpoints, the ITS can also come equipped with integrated humidity and temperature sensors, allowing it to also monitor the environment in which it is installed.
