Get to know Khomp’s UMG Appliances

The gateway market is very heated. One of the factors boosting this segment is the arrival of PSTN Internet providers, which have increased the possibilities of telephony offers and of new players in this market.

“The UMG line is very important to Khomp. They are products that allow us to offer quality service to the carriers, PSTN Internet providers and integrators, always looking for complete solutions”, explains Wesley Silva, project leader at Khomp.

With the new UMG Server 104, UMG Server Modular, and UMG Server Modular PRO models, Khomp is going in this direction. The new models of the UMG line are servers with embedded gateways in a single device, configuring a final and complete product to support the telephony application.

“The new models of UMG appliances offer the distinguishing feature of having an exclusive processor for the solution. That is, signal convergence and call routing are processed by the gateway, thus freeing the motherboard for exclusive use of the operating system and the application that will be installed onto the appliance”, explains Silva.

UMG Server 104

This device integrates a free processing CPU and an embedded UMG 104 gateway. Therefore, it is possible to use your own application to design your telephony system, integrated to a low-density E1/T1 – SIP gateway. It offers 30 E1/T1 and 30 VoIP channels, with the capacity of making up to 30 simultaneous calls.

It is compatible with any software application for IP PBX, call center, dialer, or any other; just conduct the application IP address to the gateway, thus completing the integration. It has 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports for connection with up to 3 different VoIP carriers, allowing calls to be forwarded to lower cost routes.

UMG Server Modular

With an embedded UMG Modular 300, this device has the capacity of processing up to 46 simultaneous calls, divided between 3 slots for any combination between the E1/T1, GSM, FXO, and FXS telephony interfaces, adding one VoIP channel for each channel selected.

Similar to UMG Server 104, UMG Server Modular is compatible with any software application for IP PBX, call center, dialer, or any other; just conduct the application IP address to the gateway. This makes this technology an interesting option for designing an IP PBX with an integrated modular gateway. It also allows for the development of a security platform with a firewall and an alarm trigger by IP or cell phone call, among other features.

UMG Server Modular PRO

Both UMG Server Modular PRO and UMG Server Modular, have an embedded UMG Modular 300 gateway in their structure. However, it is the most versatile of its line, since its server can also be customized to have the right size according to the telephony application in which it will be used.

There are many choices: the processor can be chosen between Intel Core i3, i5 or i7; and the RAM can be from 2GB to 16GB. For storage, the appliance supports four SATA ports for connection of an SSD or a 2.5″ HD with up to 500GB capacity each. In telephony, the gateway allows for any combination of 3, between the E1/T1, GSM, FXO, and FXS interfaces, reaching up to 46 simultaneous calls. Additionally, it is possible to choose between a simple or a full range power source, as well as add an extra Gigabit Ethernet port to the 2 existing ports on the device.

Another important feature of this UMG appliance, as well as of the UMG Server Modular, is their compact size: both fit in a 1U space at the data center and also have inputs for peripherals, which can be connected whenever needed.

Survival and customization in all models

All of the UMG line appliances have a fundamental feature for quality and reliability of the telephony services. With survival, availability of IP services is no longer a concern.

When there is a network outage, the device keeps the resources working normally, avoiding losses. “The user should not be penalized if instabilities occur, which is why we developed this feature”, adds the project leader.

Khomp’s UMG line also allows for device customization with their logo, an important feature for integrators.
